Sienna Cycle

14 x 11" Watercolor

Just back this week from a workshop in Alexandria, MN with Andy Evansen. Just what I needed to get in the mood to get back outside this season and do some plein air painting, with Nature as the taskmaster. While I much prefer painting animate subjects to outdoor scenes, the learning curve is much faster when you're trying to paint fast while avoiding wind, rain, pests and changing light conditions. In other words, you learn to make decisions quickly, no dinking around, and this leads to fresh, confident work. At least that's the plan.
